Dead Horse Point is a local State Park just north of Canyonlands National Park, UT. The light was poor and the sky was hazy, but the canyons below were stunning.

The Tower Arch Trail is a 3.4 mile round trip hike to a lovely arch we hiked to yesterday and enjoyed a picnic lunch beside the arch.

The Avenue of the Giants
October 24-26, 2008 We camped at Giant Redwoods RV in Myers Flat, CA with the 51,222 acre Humboldts Redwoods State Park on all sides.
Our lush and roomy campsite:
The view of Eel River across the way:
The site where an otter dipped in and out of the burbling river (too quick for a pic):
A quarter mile down the road in downtown Myers Flat:
The real attraction is the Avenue of the Giants, a 31 mile scenic drive through redwood groves where the road encroaches on the grand giants of the forest.
You might find it interesting, too, that few wildlife sightings occur here - the canopies of 300' tall trees leave little sun for growth on the forest floor and therefore little to forage. At most, you might spot a few birds so it makes for a particularly unusual and placid excursion.
The last of the harvest, an organic roadside produce shack:
A final stock up on enchilada supplies before the next waypoint: Fort Bragg/Mendocino.
