Hiring the Right Person for the Job
Assessments are one of the greatest tools to assist in hiring. Almost all assessments stem from the original research conducted by Carl Jung. Over the decades many tools have been created to better understand the relationship between the different personalities. Myers-Briggs Type Analysis is the granddaddy of all assessments and is used extensively in clinical research. For the small team this tool is a bit overwhelming and difficult to interpret.
A simpler tool is the DISC. The letters represent the four basic personality traits: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance. Using the DISC a team can clearly identify where their strengths are and where any gaps exist. The DISC helps to better understand how we communicate and behave, what we value and what motivates us. These are important to know when working with and managing team members.
For this reason we recommend that every team member have a DISC Assessment. They are made up of two parts: the DISC and the PIAV (Personal Interest, Attitudes, and Values assessment). They take about 10 minutes each to complete online and the results are emailed in a PDF file immediately to the individual and the team coordinator.
